2023 April PAD Challenge: Day 13

Write a poem every day of April with the 2023 April Poem-A-Day Challenge. For today's prompt, write a forgive poem.

For today's prompt, write a forgive poem. The poem could be about forgiveness in general, or it could focus on a specific instance of forgiveness or grace. There are times when we are called upon to forgive others, and times when we ask others to forgive us. And sometimes that includes forgiving ourselves. Be forgiving as you poem today.

Remember: These prompts are springboards to creativity. Use them to expand your possibilities, not limit them.

Here’s my attempt at a Forgive Poem:

"toward the light"

like one of poe's narrators
it's easy to fall into the trap
of believing every slight
and every mistake is designed
to affront our happiness
but that's just not true
because poe's narrators
of course are the most
unreliable sources ever
captured on the page
and the world is not designed
with our happiness in mind
or our miseries because
the world is what it is
regardless and life continues
onward without a care
and the best that we can do
for ourselves and others
is to join in and forgive
transgressions and sing
for life and change and love
and maybe we'll bend the arc
ever so slightly toward the light
